What Do You Know About Resources
While every part of our body works together for us to live comfortably, our vision is definitely one of the most important. With the right steps of eye care, you can avoid some of the eye problems that are common among the population. These are simple steps that you can easily incorporate in your daily lives without needing to go out of your way. But many take their eyes for granted, so proper eye care is often neglected. Don’t be one of them, you can enjoy healthy eyes even as you grow older if you take precautions right now.
Protect your eyes from the sun
Many have told you not to look at the sun because it can severely impair your vision, but did you know that it can still cause damage even if you’re not looking directly at it? The sun emit what is called ultraviolet rays, which can cause eye conditions such as skin cancer, cataracts, and more. But you can shield your eyes from harmful rays using sunglasses that can completely block UVA and UVB light. This kind of sunglasses cost more than the $5 kinds you see at the corner, though, so you’ll have to shell out money at first. You only have to buy one pair of effective sunglasses that you can wear whenever you’re outside, which will give you the perk of preventing the onset of wrinkles.
Avoid touching your eyes
Your hands carry a lot of germs and dirt that you may not see, and these can easily be transferred to your eyes. This puts your eyes at risk of getting infection that can cause serious effects. Your cornea is also susceptible to being scratched and even permanently damaged. Instead of rubbing your eyes, try putting cold compress or using eye drops. Check with your doctor also if you have allergies or conjunctivitis so you can treat them to make the itchiness go away.
Hydration is not only for the body, it’s also for the eyes. Your eyes need tears to keep your vision clear, so it’s important that your body is getting the right amount of water it needs.
Avoid stressing your eyes
We spend a good amount of hours in our daily life looking at our phones, laptop, or TV. Prolonged and uninterrupted fixation on screens can cause eye fatigue and can quickly cause other detriments, so resting your eyes for a bit can go a long ways in terms of keeping your vision healthy. There’s what we call the 20-20-20 rule that everyone can follow, which recommends people to look away from the screen every 20 minutes, and then look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
Stop eye conditions early
If you notice some changes in your eyes, go to your eye doctor immediately. Some conditions get worse because people just let them be, but you can nip it in the bud if you get help from your doctor right away.
